Radio Interview with Computer Security Expert on Vermont's Voting Machimes

In this 15 minute recording, WGDR's Jim Hogue interviews Alexander A. Shvartsman, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Connecticut. He is head of the Voting Technology Research Center at UCONN, which has been working with the state to improve the security of the optical scan voting machines.

Of note in the interview:

  • Dr. Shvartsman comments that the State of Connecticut has ackowledged vulnerabilities in the system
  • There is a 10% mandatory audit in every election in Connecticut, and still none in Vermont.
  • Dr. Shvartsman and his team have "reverse engineered" the optical scan machines and found significant vulnerabilities, outlined in this report.
